The aim of our project at Moreland Children’s Centre was to create a welcome banner to mark the move of the children’s centre into new premises. The brief was to create an artwork which reflected the identities of the families and engaged the families.
Individual pieces of work were created for participants to own as well as cushions and hangings for the centre, the welcome banner for the new premises, a new logo for the centre based on the artwork and a book which documents the project and shares the wonderful stories gathered from participants.
The project included a staff training session and family workshops.
“Working with Sarah was a very positive, empowering and uplifting experience. She was supportive at every step in the process and it was a highly collaborative experience. Sarah is passionate about what she does and really committed to enabling all participants to have the best possible experience . We worked together on a Family Arts Project involving staff training and family workshops to create a welcome banner for our new children’s centre which far exceeded our expectations – we even ended up with a new logo which we love . The community banner , cushions , pictures and hangings have given our centre a welcoming and strong visual identity which is very much owned by the community . Sarah also designed and published a beautiful book to record the stories of the families designs which our families have enjoyed sharing together . Sarah goes that extra mile and I could not recommend her highly enough and thought the project represented good value for money . Motivated by the success of this creative collaboration we have successfully applied for a grant and are now working on our second project together!”
