Old Oak Community Centre

Project Description

The aims of the project at Old Oak were to work with the whole Old Oak community and give participants the opportunity to share ideas, learn new skills and contribute to a large artwork for the outside of the building about the local community, integration, identity and belonging.

The work produced included two large banners for the main hall, a large piece of work printed onto metal for the outside of the building and a fabric book.

During the course of the project we ran workshops with seven different established groups held at the centre which represented the community; Stay & Play, After School Club, Parent Group, Friendship group (older people), Sewing Group, Junior Youth and Senior Youth.

“With Sarah, you are in the safest hands. I have had the occasion to work with Sarah now on various large and small scale creative projects. I love her mix of creativity, vitality, professionalism and the way she makes everyone feel that anything is possible. She combines wonderful people skills with hard work and a fantastic textile and screen-printing craft. She delivers if not over-delivers every time.”
