Strong Voices

Project Description

Strong Voices was a national programme funded by the Department for Education to work with 13-19 year olds that have traditionally been excluded from engaging in arts and culture. Find out more here.

“Sarah worked at both our Strong Voices residential retreats with vulnerable and disadvantaged young Londoners. She engaged them in textile printing – creating an array of T-shirts and banners that were valued by the young people, their youth centres and our wider programme. The nature inspired banner created at our first residential retreat is now displayed at Hindleap Warren, whilst smaller banners take pride of place at four different youth centres across London. The second banner was created when she worked with us as an Artist in Residence; she worked with the young people to draw out what they appreciate about arts and culture and inspired them to create a stunning piece of art work. We have shared images of the banner at national conferences and on our website as it perfectly captures the nature of our work with young people who are traditionally excluded from arts and culture. Working with Sarah is always a joy for us and the young people involved – she is professional, engaging, creative and inspiring!”
